Although these chili dogs take longer to make than regular ones, I will always make these first if I can. Baking them in the oven makes the outsides of the buns crunchy while keeping the insides warm and gooey. I also find that the buns hold together better which means, less chili on the plate and more chili in your tummy.
The measurements here are really just a suggestion. I usually stick the knife in the mayo and spread it to the bun, I never measure. The chili, I eye. I want a nice amount but not so much that it compromises the bun. As for the cheese, I think there is rarely a recipe where I follow the cheese amounts.
What You Need:
6 Hot Dogs
6 Hot Dog Buns
2 Tablespoons Mayo
1 Can Chili
2 Cups Shredded Cheese
What To Do:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spread the mayo generously in each bun. Spread a small amount of chili in each bun, sprinkle with cheese, and add the hot dog. Place the buns into a baking dish ( they should be snug). Top with more chili and cheese and place in the oven. Bake for about 20 minutes.
