.
I have yet to find a spaghetti sauce that I like. They are either to sweet or have to much sodium in them. My homemade sauce it easy to make and freezes nicely. I store 1 cup servings in zip lock backs for easy use. 1 cup servings work for us because it is just my husband and me.
What you need:
1/2 cup chopped carrots
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped onion
olive oil
salt and pepper
4 cans of tomato sauce
1 can salt free crushed tomatoes
4 cloves of garlic (or more if you are like me)
1 Tablespoon Oregano, Basil, Or Italian Seasoning
A pinch of sugar
Place vegetables and oil in pan and sauté until soft. Season with salt and pepper. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer for about 1/2 an hour. The sauce should reduce and thicken a little. I add a little sugar to cut the acidity of the tomatoes.
