A few days ago my husband came home with some beautiful ground beef. It was just to pretty to make into hamburgers so I decided to serve it as the star of the plate with a lovely mushroom gravy.  My mother said that people call this salisbury steak. I have never had that so I can’t say for sure. What I can say is this was delicious and pretty quick to put together.

For The Patty:

What You Need:

1 Lb Ground BeefIMG_6895

1 Egg

2 Crushed Garlic Cloves

1/2 Cup Bread Crumbs

1/2 Small Chopped Onion

1 Tablespoon Oregano

1 teaspoon Salt

1/2 teaspoon Pepper

What To Do:

Mix all the ingredients together with you hands.  ( It is the best way to make sure that all the ingredients are well mixed.) Form into steak like patties.  Heat a pan with a few tablespoons of olive oil. Place the patties in the pan and cook for about 5 to 7 minutes on each side.

For the Gravy:

1 Package Brown Mushrooms

1 Minced Garlic Clove

2 Tablespoons Butter

1 Tablespoon Flour

2 Cups Beef Broth

Salt and Pepper to Taste

What To Do:

Clean and chop the mushrooms.  Melt the butter in a pan and add the mushrooms.  Sprinkle with salt and cook for about 5 minutes.  Add the garlic and continue cooking for another few minutes.  Sprinkle the mushrooms evenly with the flour. Slowly stir in the beef broth, making sure not to let the flour clump.  Bring the gravy to a simmer. Simmer until gravy thickens. Add salt and pepper to taste.
