Baked Ziti with Mini Meatballs
Pasta is such a great dish to serve when entertaining. It can be made ahead, frozen, and needs little attention while baking. This Baked Ziti with Mini Meatballs is always a crowd pleaser. In fact, when I made it last year it was gone before I could get any.
I started this dish by defrosting my marinara sauce and the meatballs. I like to store them in ziplock bags so that I don’t tie up my containers. They are also easier to store flat in the freezer and make for easy clean up.
Ziti or Penna Pasta
What To Do:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain pasta and stir in 2 cups of marinara sauce. In an oven proof dish, spread a small amount of the marinara sauce. Spoon in a layer of the pasta. Add a layer of Ricotta, Mozzarella, then sprinkle with parmesan. Spoon more sauce over the cheese, add the meatballs, and repeat. At this point the ziti can be refrigerated or frozen. Let defrost if frozen, or set out for about 1/2 hour if refrigerated, before baking for 45 minutes.
