Baked Meatball Sandwiches
This is a great meal. It takes a little bit of time, even if you make the meatballs and sauce ahead of time, but I think it is worth it, especially if you are making it for a big group. It can be made up to 4 hours ahead of time so all you have to do is throw them in the oven. They are great served hot or at room temperature.
I made the meatballs the same way I do for my baked ziti and spaghetti and meatballs.
I brown the meatballs in a little olive oil and then put them in the sauce to simmer and finish cooking. Remember, don’t fast the sauce once the meatballs are in. You’ll have to wait until everything is cooked through to adjust the seasonings at this point.
I place the meatballs with the cheese and a little sauce into the rolls. I used hot dog buns this time but any kind of bun works well .
What You Need for 1 Sub:
3 Cooked Meatballs
1 Tablespoon Marinara Sauce
2 oz. Mozzarela Cheese
1 teaspoon Parnesam Cheese
What To Do:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place the mozzarella cheese in each bun top with the meatballs and a small amount of sauce. At this point they can be refrigerated for up to 4 hours. Top with Parnesan cheese and bake in the oven for about 30 minutes.
